Mick O Callaghan and friends on Culture night

 

Mick will be joined by Margaret Sherif a local widely published writer.  'Margaret retired three years ago as Co-ordinator of the Gorey School Completion Programme' in GCS. She has been published in Women's magazines, Irelands Own, Sunday Independent and on Sunday Miscellany.

 

Seamus Kavanagh is author of the widely acclaimed poetry book “Reflections in Rhyme ‘published by Carol Boland of Boland Press Hollyfort. He is also a regular contributor to “Comhnasc’ the retired teachers’ national magazine with a circulation of 11000.

 

Mick O Callaghan, author of the book “The boy who kicked the nun’ , writes a weekly blog on www.aramblersblog.com, features regularly in Comhnasc, the 11000 circulation magazine of Retired Teachers Association. He is also a writer for love Gorey.ie news and events and has written many articles for the Wicklow retired teachers group.

 

Our band for the musical section of the night will be Jazz Token, who are based in Baltinglass, have been playing together for six years now.  They play jazz standards and instrumentals from the swing era to the nineteen sixties with a more modern flavour – from Cole Porter and Duke Ellington to Horace Silver and Sonny Rollins!  Listen to some famous songs and to some of the stories behind them, or even dance to the beat of a classic jazz combo.
